Will the image quality improve after converting to PNG?

No. The conversion to PNG is lossless going forward, but it cannot recover quality already lost from JPG compression. You're preserving what's there, not improving it.

Does PNG support transparency?

Yes — but the JPG you upload has no transparency data. The resulting PNG will have a solid white or opaque background. To get a transparent background, you need a background removal tool first.
