About Converthor

Converthor is built on a simple idea: file conversion should be fast, simple, and respectful of your privacy.

Many online conversion tools are bloated, intrusive, or unclear about how they handle user data. Converthor was created to offer a clean, straightforward alternative focused on usability and trust.

File conversion is an infrastructure task: something you need done quickly so you can get back to your real work. Converthor is designed around that reality: show up, convert, leave. No funnel, no upsell, no email capture. The tool works, or it doesn’t, and that’s what we focus on improving.

Converthor is built for anyone who needs a file in a different format, right now. In practice, that covers a wide range of people:

• work Professionals and office workers — converting CSVs for accounting software, exporting Word documents as PDFs for contracts, or transforming Excel reports for data imports. Everyday tasks that shouldn’t require a monthly subscription.
• palette Designers and content creators — converting images between formats for different platforms, optimizing photos to WebP for web performance, or turning a video clip into a shareable GIF.
• code Developers — testing how a file behaves in a different format, converting data between JSON, CSV, and YAML for config or pipeline work, or generating test fixtures from existing spreadsheets.
• school Students and researchers — converting documents for submission requirements, moving between EPUB and PDF for reading, or preparing audio recordings in the right format for a project.
• person Anyone, once — you received a file in a format you can’t open, or need to send something in a format the other person can read. No commitment needed. Converthor is there when you need it.

Converthor is designed with privacy in mind. Uploaded files are processed only for the purpose of conversion and are automatically deleted after a short period.

We do not sell user data, and tracking or advertising technologies are used only where explicitly disclosed and, when required, with user consent.

Your files are processed entirely on Converthor’s servers: no third-party cloud storage, no file scanning, no content inspection. The converted file is made available for download via a one-time secure token. Once downloaded (or after a short automatic expiry), it is permanently deleted from the server.

Converthor operates as a hosted online service. The underlying software and infrastructure are maintained and operated by the Converthor team to ensure reliability, performance, and security.

While we believe in transparency about how the service operates, Converthor is not an open-source project and its source code is not publicly distributed.

Converthor is built by Orion Forge, a one man independent software studio. The goal was to build the conversion tool I actually wanted to use: one that respects your time, doesn’t surveil you, and works reliably on every format it claims to support.

There’s no venture funding, no team of growth hackers, and no roadmap driven by monetization targets. Converthor is sustained by display advertising (Google AdSense) and the intent to keep adding converters and improving quality over time.
